Working Dog
A working dog is used to perform practical tasks, as opposed to a pet or companion dog.
Definitions vary on what a working dog is, they are sometimes described as any dog trained for and employed in meaningful work; other times as any dog whose breed heritage or physical characteristics lend itself to working irrespective of an individual animal’s training or employment;
Herding Dog
A herding dog, also known as a stock dog or working dog, is a type of dog that either has been trained in herding livestock or belongs to one of the breeds developed for herding. A dog specifically trained to herd sheep is known as a sheepdog or shepherd dog.
Hound Dog
Hounds can be contrasted with gun dogs that assist hunters by identifying prey and recovering shot quarry. The hound breeds were the first hunting dogs. They have either a powerful sense of smell, great speed, or both. There are three types of hound, with several breeds type
Sporting Dog
These are dogs that scent and either point, flush, or retrieve birds on land and in water. They are pointers, retrievers, setters, spaniels, and others, such as the Vizsla and the Weimaraner.
Non-sporting Dog
One any of several breeds of usually large dogs especially suited by size and training for hunting by pointing, flushing, and retrieving game including the pointers, setters, retrievers, and spaniels.
Terrier Dog
A terrier (from Latin terra, ‘earth’) is a type of dog originally bred to hunt vermin. A terrier is a dog of any one of many breeds or landraces of the terrier type, which are typically small, wiry, game, and fearless. There are five different groups of terriers, with each group having different shapes and sizes.
